Onra Announces New Golden Era-Inspired 'Fundamentals' LP w/ The Blazing New Cut "We Ridin'"
It’s been some time (4 years to be exact) since Onra graced us with some new ear candy in form of a full-length piece. But it appears the wait is finally over, as the Franco-funkateer has announced his forthcoming record Fundamentals with the unveiling of “We Ridin’” featuring West Coast ambassador Daz Dillinger and frequent collaborator Olivier Daysoul. The track commences with his glitchy, swing-loaded trademarks, before Daz enters for a hard-nosed verse and Daysoul croons supreme on backing vocals, which is all good and well, but the bed-rock, that production, is such a wholly nostalgic top-down G-funk cut that you might very well forget where, and more importantly, when you are.
Like each of his records, Fundamentals will hone in and pay proper tribute to a particular era or feel. Where Long Distance held a torch to his glammed-out boogie influences, the new record will pay homage to Golden Era hip-hop and r&b. Fundamentals is due out on May 15th via All City Dublin and will play host to a massive list of features, including the aforementioned, Black Milk, Chuck Inglish, Suzi Analogue and plenty more. You can peep Onra's "We Ridin'" below, just be sure to preorder the record on iTunes when you get the chance.
