In case you did not receive the memo–Omar is back. One of the most influential figures in soul music–leave out UK soul–the so-called Father of British Neo-Soul has returned to the world of music after a 7-year hiatus–an eternity to serious music heads–which included a new role as Father Of Twin Daughters (not to mention a move into acting). We’ve had some sneak previews of Omar’s new record The Man, including a collaboration with his longtime soul sister Caron Wheeler, a reprise of his 1990 classic “Nothing Like This” with frequent D’Angelo collaborator Pino Palladino on bass, and a gripful of other stirring new compositions. But Okayplayer is extremely proud to play to host the record’s official World Premiere–a full, unedited album stream in advance of the release to stores next Tuesday, June 25th. Without further ado, listen below and hit the links to pre-order and get the back-story of the new LP and the many dimensions of Omar with our exclusive Okayplayer Interview.
