OKP Gives You Gangrene: Win 1 of 5 Deluxe Bundles From Decon Records

Last week, the rebellious spirit of 'the people' (as manifested by the anti-SOPA blackout) prevailed over the government's moves to censor the internet. Since then, the main force keeping a middle finger to the powers-that-be hoisted proudly in the air is the Gangrene Army. Beware of The Alchemist, Oh No and director Jason Goldwatch—the self-proclaimed third eye’s third leg of the group—they will destroy you.

Leading up to Vodka & Ayahuasca, their second LP out today via Decon Records, Gangrene’s unconventional promotion campaign is challenging hip-hop standards for video production, not to mention the limits of decency. They're having an obscene amount of fun doing it, too. Gangrene revels in making people squirm through clips of mined internet footage set to their song snippets. "The rules have been established for what your ears can buy, but the rules have yet to be established for what your eyes can watch," says Goldwatch. "We're sort of poking our finger in the anus of all these idiots trying to establish rules and all sorts of shit," he continues. The choice is yours: ignore or stare at the jarring images that walk the line between outrageous and outlandish. Some of the eye-jammies in the Gangrene arsenal include decomposing animals (Gangrene did not harm any in the making of the video) and a young girl dismantling an assault rifle but there is lighter fare as well; like a dog bopping its head to random Gangrene loops in the trailer, as well as the more conventionally watchable video for "Vodka & Ayahuasca" (below) which dropped today.

Now that Gangrene has your attention, why look away? Even if you don't know what's ahead, there's always the thrill of exploring the unknown. The giant eyeball illustrated in Gangrene’s promo imagery is always watching and it’s Goldwatch who gives it feet to move about and explore wherever strange things are happening. According to Oh No:

Alc and myself dug through a gang of heavy loops. Then Jason was literally doing the same thing, digging in the countless dusty video crates, pulling out equally crazy visuals to coincide with the beats, resulting in multi-sensed eye and ear beatdowns.

So watch, bug out and laugh a little bit, you have been granted the freedom to do so. Plus, Okayplayer and Decon are partnering up to make it worth your while! (See below).
