Okayafrica Video: Okmalumkoolkat - "iJusi"

South African MC Okmalumkoolkat Drops The Official Video For "Ijusi" Directed By Gregor Lehrl & Premiered By Okayafrica.

South African MC Okmalumkoolkat follows the August 11th release of his debut Holy Oxygen I EP with the official video for "iJusi", which premiered this week over at Okayafrica. The futuristic clip directed by Gregor Lehrl and shot between Johannesburg and Vienna is the first video from the Affine Records project, which doubles as a primer on the Future Mfana movement. Okmalumkoolkat gave his thoughts on the track, the etymology of the title and more in conversation with OKA:

“iJusi means juice in Zulu,” Okmalumkoolkat explains, “As in I got the shining, I am the blessed one.” He also mentions that the song’s intent was “to show flair like Basquiat’s brushstrokes, every bar is a stroke of genius. The poems are informative if you really listen. Just so you all know who has the shining. I feel like in terms of being one with oneself, I am the closest in the continent and in the world’s amongst spoken word messengers.”
