Oddisee Inspires In His New Video For "Belong To The World"
When Oddisee dropped his dreamy, mid-tempo single "Belong to the World" in May, we were immediately impressed. Here was a song meant for those feeling alienated and disconnected from the mainstream's embrace, a missive that offered solidarity for those lost in solitude. Now, the MC-producer has released the official music video for the track, taking us along for the ride as he navigates the globe in search of an elevated sense of self.
As it opens we see Oddisee perched beneath a bright cloudless sky, dressed in a tunic and contemplating a stunning mountain vista. Fast forward to dim alleyways, gardens and crowded parties and we see that life for the young artist is torn between at least two extremes: on the one hand Oddisee wishes to reside alone with nature, faith and wonder. And yet, on the other hand, he's a vital part of a crowded and kinetic hip-hop scene. "Belong to the World" has always been about finding peace at the center, and its visual portrays that space as one well worth seeking out.
Oddisee is also about to embark on a massive new world tour that will see him touching down in Europe, North America, Asia and Oceania. Watch his excellent new video below, check out his tour schedule after the jump and buy yourself a copy of his excellent The Good Fight LP via Bandcamp.
