Earlier this afternoon, a noose was found at the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington D.C.
It was found by visitors at an exhibition about segregation.According to the officials, this was the second time in a week that a noose was found on the Smithsonian properties. (Last week, a noose was found hanging from a tree outside the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden.)
Lonnie Bunch is the founding director of the museum, and he released a statement about the attacks on the museum:

After it was found, officials closed portions of the museum for three hours to investigate the matter.
This incident comes a day after a teddy bear hanging from a rope holding a sign saying “Make Wakefield TRIPP again #smartlunch” was found at Wakefield High School in Raleigh, North Carolina. The principal of that school is Malik Bazzell, a black man.
This is some real scary times we're living in.
