Flavor Flav’s ‘SHE Weekend’ Celebrates Elite Women Athletes in Vegas
The event brought together Olympic stars in an effort to recognize champions in women’s sports.

Flavor Flav’s “SHE Weekend” celebrated elite women athletes in Las Vegas. The event, hosted by the Public Enemy hypeman-turned-women’s sports advocate, was presented in partnership with MGM Resorts International, and it brought together some of the top female competitors in the country.
On Thursday, July 16, the first day of events, a portion of Las Vegas Boulevard was shut down that night to celebrate over 100 Winter Olympians and Paralympians. Day two of the event continued at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas on Friday, with luminaries such as members of the gold medal-winning U.S. Women’s Ice Hockey Team — Hilary Knight, Hayley Scamurra, Alex Carpenter and Laila Edwards — as well as figure skaters Alysa Liu and Amber Glenn, ice dancer Madison Chock, rugby athlete and “Dancing With the Stars” alum Ilona Maher and skeleton athlete Mystique Ro.
Knight and Carpenter presented Flav and his manager, Rhiannon Rae Ellis, custom hockey jerseys in recognition of their support for women’s sports. In addition to hosting SHE Weekend, Flav also became a sponsor and the official hype man of the men's and women's United States Olympic Bobsled/Skeleton Team in 2025.
"We were pleased to work with Flavor Flav to bring his vision for the SHE Weekend Parade, on the world-famous Las Vegas Strip, to fruition," Clark County Commissioner Chairman Michael Naft told ESPN. "SHE Weekend is more than a celebration of women athletes; it's truly about elevating women's sports as a whole. Las Vegas has become a global destination for major sporting events, and we're proud to support opportunities that increase the visibility and recognition women athletes have earned."
After Flav saw the Men's Olympic Gold medal-winning Hockey Team received a celebration at the White House, while the U.S. Women's Olympic Gold medal-winning Hockey Team had been overlooked, Flav believed the women deserved their own moment. "I would like to do it every year," he told Forbes. "This year will determine what we can do in the future."
The Cosmopolitan’s pastry team also surprised three of the athletes with personalized desserts. Liu, who recently won the ESPY Award for Best Breakthrough Athlete, received an interactive chocolate sculpture with a floral sphere filled with house-made confections. Knight celebrated her birthday with a cake featuring a hand-painted portrait of her No. 21 uniform. Ro’s custom birthday cake showcased a snowy mountain with a skeleton sled carrying her dog.
