Moses Sumney's New Single "Pleas" Is A Beautiful, Brief Escape

Singer/songwriter prodigy Moses Sumney has shared a brand new single, "Pleas," which serves as the follow-up (and b-side) to his springtime release "Seeds." Built of sweetly-treated acoustic guitar and gently-unfurling vocal harmonies, the song is a reminder of the deep, if temporary, relief that music can bring. Sometimes when the world seems so, so very wrong, a voice like Sumney's, gently yearning to connect as it croons, is what's needed most. As his arpeggios reverberate, changing keys in ways not jarring, it's impossible not to sink deeper and deeper. This is soft rain on a rooftop overhead. This is the warm embrace of generous love. Snow in the moonlight and glimmers over open water. On a day like today, "Pleas" is all but perfectly-timed.

Sumney will perform along with St. Vincent and Erykah Badu at the Hollywood Bowl on Sunday, August 30th, and it's a good bet that those lucky enough to attend will get the chance to hear "Pleas" live (get your tickets here). Moses Sumney's beautiful new offering can be heard below, and can pre-order it (along with "Seeds") on 7" vinyl here. Close your computer, close the apps on your phone and take a walk with this one.
