Mixtape Mondays: Moovmnt, Fontenay, DJ Jedi

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.Fontenay "Summer Love Triangle"

We at Okayplayer are strong believers in the importance of education. That's why this week's Mixtape Mondays dabbles a bit in geology, geometry, and astronomy courtesy of Moovmnt.com's Glimmering Fractions mix, Fontenay's Summer Love Triangle, and DJ Jedi's mix of original samples used by Digable Planets. That's right, kids. We had joy, we had fun. We had seasons in the sun. And now back-to-school time is almost here...

Fontenay - Summer Love Triangle:

I'm not sure if my ears just weren't pointed in the right direction and I'm just late to this revelation, but apparently Onra's 2010 Long Distance LP has birthed a new movement of producers chopping up 80's post-disco dance classics.  I came to this realization after listening to Fontenay's "Summer Love Triangle" mix which almost acts as a crash course in heavily compressed boogie chops. Going on a trip to the beach?  This mix is as necessary as sunscreen.
