Mobb Deep ends a five year hiatus with the release of “Taking You Off Here,” a vintage heater off the long-awaited sequel to 1994’s classic The Infamous. TYOH is a true-blue throwback for the seasoned boom-bap enthusiast, boasting the stapled gritty vocals of Havoc and Prodigy over some heavy drum-work and distorted guitar licks. Marking the 20th anniversary of their sophomore masterpiece drop, the aptly titled The Infamous Mobb Deep will celebrate the release with a whole bag of goodies.
The double LP will be comprised of 10 of new track from the NY tandem, a remastered edit of its predecessor and 10 unreleased tracks from the original recording sessions featuring the likes of Raekwon, Nas and N.O.R.E. And to bring the release to fruition, the group has launched a crowd-funding campaign over at PledgeMusic, engaging their fans in a way that seems unprecedented (auctioning off a verse on the album for 30k) Needless to say, its a collection suited for those devout boom-bappers who have been itching for a proper release from the group.
