Mixtape Mondays: DOPE x Wax Poetics, Skratch Bastid & Cosmo Baker, DJ Matman

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.

Happy Monday, Okayplayers. If your Sunday was anything like mine, you're regretting all the junk food you ate during yesterday's Super Bowl (BALTIMORE RAVENS!  WHAT!??!?!).  But there's nothing like some dope music to take your mind off the bubbleguts.  Take the first half of the February installment of Wax Poetics' DOPE Digital Cassette. If that's not enough, Skratch Bastid & Cosmo Baker revisit the songs they listened to most in 2012.  If you require even more, then maybe DJ Matman's New Jack Swing mixtape will get the job done.

DJ Matman - "The New Jack Swing Mix"

New Jack Swing was the sound of my childhood.  As a kid, I kept up with everything the godfather of New Jack Swing, Teddy Riley, did, and anything that came out on Uptown Records was a must-have!  That's why DJ Matman's The New Jack Swing Mix found its way into my heart.  Featuring classics from LL Cool J, Guy, Keith Sweat, Ready For The World, MC Lyte, Father MC and many more. If you can make it through this mix without getting up to do the Running Man or the Roger Rabbit, you have way more self-control than I do.
