Mixtape Mondays: Boolu Master x Vince Montana Jr., DJ Blue, AllyAl

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.

While supervising the relaunch of Okayafrica yesterday, we had plenty of time to get familiar with this week's Mixtape Mondays selections.  Boolu Master's tribute to the late Vince Montana Jr had us doing the hustle while we waited for files to import.  DJ Blue's Origami mixtape kept our feet tapping while we continued to wait for files to import.  AllyAl's Are Friends Eclectic? mix had us nodding our heads in victory as the relaunch process came to an end.

Now we just gotta find something to listen to while we finish up our income taxes today...

Boolu Master - "Vince Montana Jr. Tribute Mix"

This past Saturday, legendary composer, arranger and percussionist Vince Montana Jr passed away at the age of 85.  Known for his work with legendary groups like the O'Jays, MFSB and the Salsoul Orchestra, Montana's work packed dance floors in the 70s and continues to do so to this day. DJ Blue "Origami: The Mix"

Amsterdam's DJ Blue says this mix was inspired by Origami, the ancient Japanese art of paper folding.  We're not sure exactly what the connection is between Origami and the collection of bass heavy electronic funk and house contained in this mix, but it really doesn't matter. Paper cranes are awesome and so is this mix.
