Michael Uzowuru's "Black Stormtrooper" Puts The Flip On The New 'Star Wars' Trailer

Michael Uzowuru is a spry SoCal-based musician who's been on our radar for a minute now. He recently unveiled a new audiovisual scheme for a labor of love project "Black Stormtrooper," inspired by --you guessed it-- seeing actor John Boyega in the new Star Wars trailer and it wipes out the sappy string arrangements you'd likely associated with Lucas' jet-aged masterpiece, replacing them with his own synth-heavy stylings that provide a nearly 40-year-old classic with a much needed, even club-ready update. The trailer itself gets some added bleeps and bloops to complement the glitchy score Uzo wields on this one. You might know Uzo from recent collaborations with Vic Mensa and Chance The Rapper's right-hand horn-man Donnie Trumpet or his own florally new-funk on the Pink Orchids EP, but if you've yet to catch wind of the synthy sonic goodies he's been dropping, this new take on a classic soundscape should hook you. Listen and watch Michael Uzowuru's Star Wars trailer flip AKA "Black Stormtrooper" below and hit his Soundcloud to get acquainted. Check back for more from The Blessed Coast's wunderkind in the weeks and months to come.
