Mayer Hawthorne - "Her Favorite Song" (prod. Oak & Mayer)

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.

Mayer Hawthorne is back with "Her Favorite Song" - his latest single to drop from his forthcoming LP Where Does This Door Go, due in July. He is joined on this outing by Jessie Ware, who spices up the hook with a bit of beautiful melody to counter the chugging drum and bass. This track lands somewhere between funk, fusion and Daft Punk in a mash of influences that plays as just plain dope. Nevermind the fact that this joint is the perfect soundtrack for a few pregame shots ahead of a night out. The song - a jam about the redemptive and cathartic power of music - is produced by Oak & Mayer and follows Hawthorne's 80s-inspired jam "Designer Drug", produced by Jake One. The recent deviation from his 60s revival sound is a refreshing change for his classic vocal. Check the track below. Stay tuned for more from Mayer Hawthorne as his next album approaches.
