Maya Rudolph and her right-hand chick Gretchen Lieberum joined The Legendary Roots Crew onstage at Jimmy Fallon last night to give the world a taste of Maya Rudolph’s Princess–Rudolph & Lieberum’s Prince cover band–in the form of this lingering and lascivious rendition of the all time slow-grind jam “Darling Nikki” by Prince, up to and including the backwards-masked portion of the song’s album version! This is just a purple-flavored taste, of course, of what Maya Rudolph Princess and The Legendary have in store for their live Prince-a-thon at Brooklyn Bowl tonight (Brooklynites what are you still reading for, get in line NOW). The rest of you, be content with the video (hit the link below to watch via Gawker–until Mr. Rogers Nelson spirits it away that is) and watch Rudolph’s hilarious interview with Fallon (up to and including her special special birthday present for Jimmy) after the jump.
