Like storms hanging low over a lake, Mar's newest single "She's A Dancer" is a gorgeously soothing affair. The dutch vocalist is known by many for his soul-tinged collaborations with fellow Amsterdam-ian producer Full Crate, but Mar is unquestionably capable of standing on his own. "She's A Dancer" is, in a way, everything one could hope for in a house track. Steady kick drums keep time while synth strings stretch forever, and every cymbal crash lands just right. Mar's gorgeous tenor gets a little lost in the mix--and that's a good thing. "She's A Dancer" is a piece of seamless integration--one solitary push from the heart towards a strobe-lit room.
"She's A Dancer" was produced by Brighton, UK composer Sebastian Carter and is, in a way, house for a non-house fan. Carter goes easy on the hi-hats and knows exactly when to pull the beat's foundation away before generously dropping it once more. The new Mar release comes ahead of his upcoming When We Meet EP, which is due out later this year. "She's A Dancer" was preceded by the contorted ballad "Not Like Here," and is an excellent introduction to first-timer fans.
