Lupe Fiasco Responds To Dylan Roof's Manifesto w/ Open Letter To White Supremacy
Lupe Fiasco may have jumped off Twitter, but that certainly hasn't stifled his ability to speak his truth to power. As many of you know, a vile, hate-filled mass murder was committed last week in Charleston, SC, leaving nine innocents dead in a historic black church and the gunmanDylan Roof in custody. And while many families of those victims have already done the Christian thing and forgiven Roof for his atrocities, Lupe's taking a different stance on the matter, equating Roof to a poster child for white supremacy and disassembling him and the system that bore him with expert precision in a newly penned open letter delivered in three parts through his Instagram account. The sprawling attack on the establishment takes the illusion of supremacy in any compartment of culture to task, downgrading it to regularity, which he sees equal to the regular-ness of folks of any color or creed. It's quite the tangential response to a downright evil act from a downright evil human being, but it's more than worth your time if you've got ten minutes to spare and have a stake in the shared loathing of Dylan Roof and the unspeakable acts he's committed.
