Lorde Shuts Down The Web With The Official Video For "Team"

Lorde drops the official video for "Team" - the second high-performing single from her Pure Heroine debut LP - directed by Young Replicant and filmed in Red Hook, Brooklyn. The release of the video follows her live performance of the song this past weekend at Australia's Aria Awards. The New Zealand songstress is quickly cementing her place atop the pile of rising stars with two massive singles under her belt and an apparent knack for shutting down the internet anytime she threatens to deliver a new joint; the release of the official video for "Team" managed to cripple YouTube and Vevo when it dropped today. The footage features Lorde as the leader of an underground oasis surrounded by thirsty subjects and the ruins of the world as we've known it. The video for "Team" arrived today with a message from Lorde:

this video was borne from a dream i had a few months ago about teenagers in their own world, a world with hierarchies and initiations, where the boy who was second in command had acne on his face, and so did the girl who was queen. i dreamt about this world being so different to anything anyone had ever seen, a dark world full of tropical plants and ruins and sweat. and of this world, i dreamt about tests that didn’t need to be passed in order to be allowed in: sometimes the person who loses is stronger. enjoy xx"
