Little Simz has just shot up a self-affirming flare, dropping a dreamy, expansive new single that goes by the name of "Lane Switch." Produced by RASCAL, the loosie's beat veers into somewhat gentler territory than we're used to from the English MC, but once words begin flowing all doubts are laid to rest: Simz is as hard as she's ever been. Calling out men and record labels for simply seeking to take advantage of her, "Lane Switch" is a powerful status update, an exhilaratingly open and honest discussion of life as 21 year-old knows it right now.
"Lane Switch' again is an update on where I am in life right now and what space I'm in, I've been on the road for the longest time and want to update my listeners on how I finding everything," Simz told Fader, who premiered the track Monday. "Giving my supporters new music is my way of staying creative and updating you guys while travelling, growing and evolving."
"Lane Switch" serves as both a dessert helping to Little Simz's excellentAge 101: Drop 4 EP, which is still ringing fresh in our ears, and her long-awaited (and yet-untitled) debut full length, which will reportedly be arriving before the end of 2015. Listen to "Lane Switch" below and check out Simz's full intinerary of summer tour dates below.
