Audio: KRS-One x DJ Premier "It's Gettin' Hectic" [Unreleased Demo, Ca. 1993]

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.Krs-One-Return-Of-The-Boom-Bap-Front-Cover-Artwork

When you listen to this DJ Premier-produced cut recorded by KRS-One back in 1993 for his Return of the Boom Bap LP, you can see how it must have raised some eyebrows and red flags over at Jive headquarters at the time. "It's Gettin' Hectic" is a scathing indictment of the United Nations, the European Union, the Bush (Senior) and Clinton administrations, media censorship, television and Tipper Gore. It accuses the UN of racist exploitation, condemns eurocentricism, as well as the white public's outrage over hip-hop, calls out to the youth in Japan, Great Britain, France and the US to rise up, and predicts "you'll see more white kids on the mic and the wheels of steel." This is nothing short of a lost classic. A bomb indeed. Additional rare demos/mixes compiled by DJ JS-1 can be found on this mixtape.
