In the first few bars of their Kool & Kass project Peaceful Solutions, Kool A.D. and Kassa Overall establish the kind of effortless wordplay and stream of consciousness bugouts that made the rap blogs go nutso for Das Racist in the first place. Peaceful Solutions also comes with an eclectic and jazz-inflected production palette, tapping beats from everybody from Gordon Voidwell to Amaze 88 (I see your Eddie Harris "Zambezi Dance" flips, sun). On the very first track Kass namechecks: "Fatty Acids / Fatter asses / Santana - Abraxas..." and other things he poetically waxes. It just gets better from there--listen:
