"I want them all" said Kendrick Lamar in a recent New York Times interview, addressing his near record-setting grip of Grammy nominations for the unanimously-approved To Pimp Butterfly LP.
The press stops have been copious, with The Times and NPR both getting a piece of the man of the year, who addressed his "The Blacker The Berry" lyrics and reflected upon a monumental 2015 by any measure. But now that the new year is upon us, Kendrick will start things off with a stop at The Tonight Show, joining the mighty Roots crew and Jimmy Fallon for a chat and serving as the evening's musical guest, which could prove to be the perfect opportunity for K Dot and The Roots to make a few million wishes come true and finally collaborate in some shape or form.
Even if that legendary linkage doesn't take place, viewers can be sure that they'll at least get to lay their eyes upon a sliver of what Lamar's wholly-sold-out Kunta's Groove Sessions tour had to offer, which he has claimed repeatedly was the only place you would hear or see him perform cuts from TPAB live. That said, the man's resume of live TV performances remains at the top of the game, hands down, with The Colbert Report send-off and Ellen takeover still permeating brains to this day. So be sure to tune-in this Thursday night for the whole script. Kendrick Lamar's new year appears to be jumping off with a bang.
