Last night, many of the entertainment world's biggest names gathered under the Staples Center roof in LA for the 2015 BET Awards. But a night that would see some high-powered performances from A-listers far and wide had to get started on the good foot. And so, Kendrick Lamar was called upon to commence the awards show, doing so from the top of a cop car, belting out the triumphant preamble to his To Pimp A Butterflyturn-up anthem "Alright," which was perhaps the only way to cap off such an equally trying and blessed week in the the good ole US of A. Once again, K Dot comes through and embodies the frustrations of a nation, providing us with all of the energy and even a new verse for his mid-album heater to boot. Heroic barely describes how powerful a moment the man provided for those in attendance and watching along at home, but is he not the rap-game Superman, stomping on the hood of a bombed-out cruiser as he proclaims that "we gon' be alright"? And are we not inclined to believe him? Watch as Kendrick Lamar delivers a powerful performance of "Alright" live at the 2015 BET Awards and check back later today for more from the evening's proceedings.
