Kendrick Lamar Spits Unheard "i" Verse A Cappella In Compton, Announces Reebok Partnership
Kendrick Lamar took to his hometown of Compton in a new ad campaign for his recent endorsement from Reebok, dubbed "i am." Though the year may have gone without a proper release from The Blessed Coast's microphone champ, he has delivered one of its most memorable songs (and videos) in "i" and landed as a feature on a few of his labelmates' releases, but anything that K. Dot has to offer, we're more than happy to receive.
The clip -- directed by music video great Anthony Mandler-- finds him mixing it up with local youths and delivering a powerful, previously unheard verse for his 2014 smash "i," setting in stone the sentiments of self-love and respect in a beautiful and cleanly shot piece. It's a sort of ode to the town that gave him his callouses and provided a backdrop for his ground-shaking 2012 crossover good kid mAAd city, touching on the potential of the youth and the need to ground themselves in love for another before they can break out like their brother-in-arms. If you've somehow managed to avoid "i," jump back and peep that funk-fortified revival. You can watch Kendrick Lamar unleash a never-heard verse in a clip for Reebok below, just be sure to hit the link to peep his new line of heat for your feet.
