Jon Stewart Praises His Successor Trevor Noah In Opening Plea On The Daily Show
With all of the turmoil surrounding Trevor Noah‘s recent nomination to The Daily Show throne, it seems wholly appropriate to see where the current king of satirical news stands on the matter. In his first episode back since the announcement of Noah’s succession, Jon Stewart took a moment in his opening monologue to clear the air a bit, praising the South African comedian for his thoughtfulness in funny-man-ism and making a plea for the world to give him a shot. And let’s be honest here, no person on the planet (specially one who occupies such an important role in understanding race relations and has used his platform to shed light) deserves to be judged by a handful of failed jokes that happen to be on the internet. I mean, he is a comedian after all, and some jokes are destined to miss the mark. But they have to be tested in order to know one way or the other. So lighten up, folks. Watch Jon Stewart speak out in defense of Trevor Noah below. And for god’s sake, give the kid a chance before your write him off.
