OKP TV: Joey Bada$$ x Wyatt Cenac Play With Kittens + Talk Rap

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.Joey Bada$$ Wyatt Cenac & Trinidad James play with kittens backstage at Roots Picnic 2013

Joey Bada$$' coming-of-age set was undoubtedly one the brightest highlights of Roots Picnic 2013 for those who attended this year's throwdown. But for those of us hanging out in the backstage area, you know just hooping it up with Trinidad James and tearing up some jerk chicken--his interview with ex-Daily Show With Jon Stewart Senior Black Correspondent (and diehard Okayplayer) Wyatt Cenac was maybe even more memorable. Wyatt graciously stepped in to play host and on-camera interrogator for our backstage documentation, while young Bada$$ was deputized for kitten wrangling duty, cat-sitting Questlove's cats while The Roots held it down onstage (Man, listen...there's a reason we didn't call it a 'festival' or, you know, 'concert'. When we say Roots Picnic we mean PICNIC. As in 'family-style'. As in everybody pitches in. Even if you are being interviewed by Wyatt Cenac about your new mixtape Summer Knights and working with hip-hop legend/fellow Picnicker DJ Premier, you best be snapping some green beans or looking after some cats. Or something. Wait a damn minute--does Questo even have cats? Watch below for all the underground rap/fuzzy adorability you can handle (gives a whole new meaning to the term "Beast Coast"). Oh yeah--and watch out for the Trinidad James x kitten cameo. Beacoups shouts to our sponsors and partners in content-capture BitTorrent!
