Jill Scott Puts The Heartache On A J Dilla Beat w/ New Single "Fool's Gold"
UPDATE:Alright, I've been duped. Fooled, even. Call it a case of selective hearing or just honing in a little too hard on that Dorothy Ashby sample that Dilla used on his own cut (sourced below) but according to sources, this is not, in fact, a production from the gawd. The track was produced by DK The Punisher and written by SIR Farris. Apologies to all for the confusion. Lesson learned: if it seems too good to be true, it usually is.
When Jill Scott & J Dilla collide in any shape or form, it's time to halt whatever you're doing, wherever you are, and take heed. Moments ago, Jilly from Philly let loose the silky, heart-wrenching single "Fool's Gold," repurposing one of the GOAT's wavy, lesser-known sonic concoctions for a mediation on the pains of loving and losing, lush with Scott's tender, jazz-flecked vocal layering and a head-bopping knock for all of the donut lovers out there. While a record has yet to be officially announced, the track comes on the heels of her bluesy and intoxicating lead-off "You Don't Know", which arrived just a few months back, making at least this writer wary of yet another anxiously anticipated 2015 release.
