"Long live the chief, welcome to your funeral"

If we're to read the signs correctly, Jidenna's debut album may be just around the corner. Coming off a brief hiatus (during which he graced Philadelphia with a performance for the ages) the classic man has resurfaced with some heat to boot, releasing the certified banger "Chief Don't Run," his latest installment in the chief-themed campaign. And it may be his hardest hitting single yet, asserting his dominance over the rap game with potent lyrical barbs and all over a fire-treated production provided by Wondaland's own Nate Wonder (AKA one half of Deep Cotton.)

Evolving from "classic man" to chieftain in his newest visual, Jidenna beats his chest while delivering life lessons in this Alan Ferguson-directed piece. Throughout the leader of the #Jenerals recalls nights sleeping by the oven for warmth, staying in motels filled with hookers  in one motion and then toasting to success in the next. Embedding a political message in the video, while hanging with a prince in Dubai or the Dalai Lama's crew, Jidenna also shows off a bit of acting chops as he plays both cop and arrestee, saying, "I live a different set of laws out here / Know my rights even when I'm in the wrong out here / Look what we did with one song out here / Like a locksmith opened every door out here."

"Chief Don't Run" follows Jidenna's previous releases, "Long Live the Chief" and "Classic Man." Continue to hold tight for the official announcement of his debut album, which could be arriving any moment now! For further listening from Jidenna, we'll refer you to the recent Wondaland compilation album, Eephus, which is available to purchase on iTunes, teasing what's to come.

By the sound of it, we won't be disappointed.
