Jake One Brings Gospel To The Forefront w/ Free Beat Tape

Suppose we should know by now that Jake One is a man that can craft the most intricate of riddims with damn-near anything that falls under his Technics needle. He donned the Tuxedo with Mayer Hawthorne to remind the world of boogie’s everlasting greatness and provided a life’s worth of bangers for Freeway (most recently on the Fear Of A Free Planet mixtape.)

But we haven’t been graced with a solo beat suite from the producer since his 2014 outing, Seaplane. That is, until today, when the beatsman dropped off the aptly (and hilariously) titled new project, #PrayerHandsEmoji. With a sprawling 22 track list, Uno pays proper respect to the gospel tradition, bringing it front and center as the sonic wellspring from which the new tape pulls, blending those big church sounds with his own distinctive thump. We don’t appear to have anything in the way of new Tuxedo material arriving anytime soon, but this will more than just hold you over in the meantime. Stream Jake One’s new (and free!) #PrayerHandsEmoji beat tape down below and be sure to stay tuned. Never know when or where Uno will pop up next.
