It's been a little over a month now since the world became acquainted with J Dilla: The MC on the recently released lost-and-found vocal album, The Diary. It served as a rare glimpse into an alter-ego that only his closest collaborators, friends and family could attest to. Mass Appeal, as the facilitators of this decade-plus recovery mission, rounded up a grip of the album's contributors (producers like Hi-Tek, Nottz, House Shoes and Bink!, as well as Bilal, engineer Dave Cooley and J Dilla estate director, Egon) to take us into the magic and years of work that went into bring thing The Diary into the light of day. Dave Cooley's account of Thom York and Nigel Goodrich spinning "Fuck The Police" is particularly amusing.
