Is Massive Attack's 3D The Man Behind Banksy?

Secret identities in music are far from a new occurrence. In the art world they're almost mandatory depending on your discipline. But what if the identity(ies) of one of the 21st century's most notorious graffiti artist(s) has been right under our noses this whole time? That's the scenario painted by one Craig Williams, who recently published a fairly comprehensive theory as to who Banksy is/are.

According to his lengthy supporting argument, not only is Banksy not just one man, but graffiti isn't even his main gig, positing that Banksy is, in fact, Massive Attack's Robert "3D" Del Naja. Or, at the very least, that 3D is something of a figurehead for a collective of artists that tag as Banksy, with many famed murals and pieces suspiciously coinciding with Massive Attack shows or events. And it's not a terribly assumptive either. It's well-documented that 3D and Banksy have some sort of relationship. He even appears in Banksy's Exit Through The Gift Shop. Suppose wherever you stand on the matter, precisely who is behind the work, whether it's one man or many, shouldn't tarnish the value of the work's significance. Though it would be kinda fitting to find out Banksy's been hiding in plane sight all these years. Read Williams' full theory here and hit us with your own take in the comment section.
