In search of hip-hop at...Art Basel
Okayplayer TV traveled all the way to Miami's Art Basel happening for the latest edition of our ongoing series/quest, a mission we call In Search Of Hip-hop... Our South Coast correspondent for a day, DJ T*O*N*Y stuck a mic in the front of just about every artsy face in the place, mostly to establish that there was not a lot of room for hip-hop in their arty hearts (some tried though: "I have trip-hop.") There was room, however, for fire-breathers, masked Eyes Wide Shut-style beauty queens, wheelie-popping rickshawallahs, a church choir, a very faded Theophilus London and of course, a whole lot of doodles on the wall. Late in the game, Hip-hop threatened to make a last-inning comeback in the person of Danny Brown, who was performing live. As you may have heard, that plan imploded in the worst way--Okayplayer TV was there, and the implosion also provided the most appropriate ending to this webisode we could have asked for. Grab your gallery guide and your bird-watching binoculars and let's go: In Search of Hip-hop at... Art Basel. Press play to watch below:
