It's good to know that IAMNOBODI's #vibes game is as strong as ever. The Soulection producer has proved that much with his most recent single "Turbulence," which belies its name and offers up nothing but the smoothest of rides. Built of sparse materials including a slight guitar, simple piano fills and dry handclaps, IAMNOBDI's new cut takes the Soulection aesthetic of smooth heaviness and runes with it. Scratch that, it saunters slowly--this is music for cool, collected evenings.
IAMNOBODI made his American live debut at Okayplayer's SXSW showcase (alongside his labelmates Esta, Abjo, Andre Power and more), and his tasteful approach to beat construction is always welcome around these parts. "Sometimes behind your pretty smile I see / All your pain, your frustrations and misery" we hear as the track opens and its message of tender understanding builds upon itself. Can a beat heal wounds? Can a song set everything right? Nobodi is making believers out of us with this one. Listen to "Turbulence" below and keep your seats in the upright position. The cabin crew will be through shortly, and by the time the pianos hit their final chord we'll be making a descent to a more peaceful place.
