Fresh off their SXSW takeover, Hiatus Kaiyote have let loose the latest single off their much-anticipated sophomore record Choose Your Weapon. "Shaolin Monk Motherfunk" commences in a swirl of feathery synth work and instrumentation before leading lady Nai Palm enters the mix with her soaring vox. Just as swiftly as it comes on, the track plummets into an abyss of arpeggiated licks and big, brooding drums, capping things off with the avant-soul we've come to know and love from Melbourne's musical maniacs. It's a quick and welcomed follow-up to the soupy funk of "Breathing Underwater" (which you should certainly jump back to peep) and offers yet another scrumptious and soulful taste of an album that we're already salivating over.
