Giorgio Moroder remixes “Tony’s Theme” for the 30th anniversary of Scarface – the seminal gangster flick starring Al Pacino as tortured drug lord Tony Montana. The widely revered cult classic has made Montana into hip-hop’s personal Jesus and found references to the film peppered across a variety of projects over the years since the 1983 release of Brian DePalma and Oliver Stone‘s adaptation of the 1932 original. Moroder revisits the film’s sinister electro theme – a joint you might recognize as the backbone of Mobb Deep‘s “G.O.D. Pt. III” and Kanye West‘s “Mercy” – several decades after he produced the track, to deliver a rework of the original on the anniversary of the film’s U.S. debut. Check the track below to listen to “Tony’s Theme” (Scarface 30th Anniversary Remix) from Giorgio Moroder. Purchase the original motion picture soundtrack via iTunes.
