Flying Lotus Drops A Banger In His New Solo Apple Music Ad

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.

Flying Lotus and Apple Music took their budding courtship to the next level this week in the form of a new 60 second commercial that features the beatmaker star doing what he does best: smashing eardrums. Lotus sets his hands to work upon his Abelton controller and Macbook as a fearsome, thunderous beat plays. Quite frankly, the track is a bit more EDM-ish and mainstream-y than you're probably expecting. Did Apple, perhaps, ask Lotus to bring his most festival-circuit-ready, Afrojack-inspired material to the marketplace? We're honestly a little taken aback that a Flying Lotus clip, even a commercial one, could feel so comfortable and clean, but then all of a sudden things change in the final seconds and we're treated to a dusty lopsided drum loop--textbook FlyLo through and through.

Flying Lotus is one of many hip-hop and R&B stars to get an entire Apple Music spot dedicated to their talents (or, rather, brand image). The Weeknd was showcased in a clip earlier this month, and an ad featuring Leon Bridges also hit the net today. Watch the video below, and if for some odd reason you haven't yet picked up the Lotus's masterpiece You're Dead!, first, don't tell anyone, and second, get it immediately.
