FKA twigs Debuts New Vogue-Inspired Single "Figure 8" On Beats 1 Radio
Never one to go ghost for too long, FKA twigs just dropped her latest loosie on Beats 1 Radio with the ever intrepid Zane Lowe. “Figure 8” with all of its shifty melodics and glitch-heavy production has actually been a staple of twigs’ live act for sometime now, but this is the first hi-fi version we’ve gotten yet, stripped of the audiovisual bomb it’s typically accompanied by in her show. Fine by us. Finally, we can hear her floaty, otherworldly vox fly in and out of a rough, industrial sonic bed, only softened by the occasional touch of synthesizers. After the song’s premiere, Lowe inquired about the inspiration of the track, to which she replied by tipping her hat to NYC’s vogue community, but particularly Derrick Prodigy, who may have worked with her on the video for “Glass & Patron,” a contender, along with “Figure 8” and “In Time,” for inclusion on her forthcoming EP3. You can hear the latest from FKA twigs below, but you should really do yourselves a solid and peep her jaw-dropping live shows (the dates for which are listed below) if you want the full sensory-overload experience.
