Pass The Popcorn: Filmmaker Terence Nance Takes On Police Brutality In 'Blackout'

Filmmaker Terence Nance Takes On Police Brutality In The Short Film 'Blackout: John Burris Speaks' Presented By i-D For Vice.

Inspired by the groundswell of protests following the highly-publicized killings of Eric Garner and Michael Brown, filmmaker Terence Nance takes on police brutality in the short film Blackout: John Burris Speaks presented by i-D. Going beyond hashtag activism and the uneasy camaraderie of peaceful protest, Nance marries top notch photography with dance and commentary from civil rights attorney John Burris in order to interpret the movement. The film arrives as demonstrations across the nation are buoyed by the familiar chants of "Hands Up Don't Shoot" and "I Can't Breathe" and new reports of violence perpetrated against people of color by law enforcement officers. Check the footage below to watch Blackout: John Burris Speaks. Stay tuned for more from Terence Nance.
