D. Prosper x Flying Lotus - "Elephant Ride" [Animated Short]

The homie D.Prosper's Flying Lotus-produced banger "Elephant Ride" finally gets the visual it deserves in the form of this epic animated short. Before our wondering eyes a troop of soundclash-ready CGI war elephants emerge from the ruins of a Grand Theft Auto-style virtual city--which seems to be a composite of London and Detroit--while D.Prosper attacks the mic like a hybrid of Redman and Jay Electronica. The FlyLo beat, meanwhile, combines the tuffest elements of Sizzla's "Come Fly With Me" with temple bells and a Bollywood vocal chop ala "React." Case you're wondering why this 2012 track (it was a standout cut on Prosper's Atom 12.12.12. project in fact) just got a video premiere in time for 2014, it's part of a campaign to raise awareness about the near-extinct status of African elephants due to poaching to support the illicit ivory trade. Scroll down for a statement on that from Prosper and another short film "Monsanity." Stay tuned for more trunk funk from the atomic MC, who I'm told is "currently in L.A., working on more things with FlyLo." Heavy.

"There are 500,000 African elephants in existence. Upwards of 25,000 of those elephants are being killed per year. The idea for the song Elephant Ride was to enlighten people on human rights and digital rights while the visual animation component deals with anti-poaching for animal rights.” - DProsper
