Watch Drake & Hannibal Buress Lose At Softball--For A Good Cause
Drake may have indeed had hit records on his demo, but he was hitless at the plate during a celebrity softball game held earlier this summer in Houston. Playing alongside Hannibal Buress and a host of other wannabe sluggers, the Toronto rapper had organized the game as a part of OVO Music's annual Houston Appreciation Weekend. Now, new never-before-seen video shot at the softball game by journalist/filmmaker Sama'an Ashrawi has just appeared, taking us into the dugout and out onto the field with Drake and his side as they try (and fail) to hit a few dingers.
The game was played for the benefit of the Houston Astros' Urban Youth Academy, which provides baseball training and equipment for area kids, with Ne-Yo, Kirko Bangz and numerous pro athletes joining Drake's side. In Ashrawi's video, we get a glimpse of Hannibal making good contact, only to get thrown out at first getting thrown out at first. Still, as Drake notes, the comedian played a key role in keeping morale at an "all time high" and in the clip we watch him relish in his designated hitter role. "It's very convenient," Buress said. "I can chill out, can be a fan, root everybody on, and then it's just offense man. It's a lazy, fat man's position."
Despite all that, Hannibal attested to still having a few jets left in him. He and Drake's OVO team ended the day losing 8-2, and you can watch their good-natured defeat below.
