DJ Premier Announces First Solo Record 'Last Session @ 320'

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.

Just a week after the official closing of his legendary D&D Studios, DJ Premier is already talking about new projects, announcing that 2015 will see his very first solo record, which will arrive in the form of Last Session @ 320. A clear light-in-the-air moment for the old studio digs in Midtown Manhattan -- where tracks for Biggie, Jeru, Nas, KRS and, of course, Gang Starr were helmed -- Preemo's solo debut will likely be in the feature-heavy vein and provide a proper tributary to such a crucial hub in NYC's early '90s renaissance. The album is slated for release this year, though an exact date has yet to be established. Hold tight for details, read a word from Preemo on the closing of his iconic laboratory below and grab a copy his latest outing with Royce Da 5'9" as PRhyme AKA the rap-game Batman & Robin on iTunes today.

“The building was sold in order to change it from commercial business to residential and our leases would not be renewed, so basically that means ‘everybody out!’ It is tough to accept after so many years making that much history there, but life is good and I will continue to make hot music. Passion never leaves your soul and I have a lot of it so I’m ready to continue on.”
