For those on our side of the great pond, DJ Premier and his finely tuned ensemble (comprised bass man Brady Watt, drum slapper Lenny "The Ox" Reece and horn players Takuya Karoda & Mark Williams) have been lighting up stages all across Europe these past few weeks. But those few on our end that have witnessed the live and direct boom-bap brilliance of the set, have only been teased, as there's yet to be a true, blue single from the group, even with its many merry musical men. Today that all ends with the release of "BPATTER" and its accompanying visual set, revealing a deep, lush arrangement that teeters between prime Preemo elements and the group's jazz-inflected chops, putting the sheer breadth of musicianship assembled on full display.
