Black Milk Puts A Very Detroit Flip On Diamond District's "Ain't Over"

Black Milk may not want to sound like the GOAT J Dilla, but on a recent remix of DMV supergroup Diamond Districts “Ain’t Over” the Detroit do-it-all taps into his inner donut lover. Gentle key touches and that patented swing guide this rework from the District to Hitsville, while the crack of a crisp snare and a vibe-heavy feel that’ll have you jumping back to the Fan-Tas-Tic days in no time. If you’ve yet to catch the vibe from the Mello Music Group trio of Oddisee, Uptown XO and yU The 78er, the bones of this thing lay on their recently March On Washington LP, which has already given us gems like “A Part Of It All,” “These Bammas” and “First Step.” But that isn’t all they’ve got in store for us, as this gleaming rework will appear on the forthcoming March On Washington Redux LP with a laundry list of premiere producers adding their touch to the group’s catalogue, including 14KT, Apollo Brown, Nottz and Jonwayne to name just a few. Spark something up and put your ears to Black Milk’s top-shelf remix of Diamond District’s “Ain’t Over” below and preorder the remix project on iTunes if you’re as stuck as we are.
