Devine Carama Makes It Plain In "Martin Didn't Die For This" [Official Video]

Devine Carama challenges the lack of dedication to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s dream in the official video for "Martin Didn't Die For This" directed by Raddiculous Productions; Josh "Raddiculous" Radden makes his directorial debut with the video for the track he also produced for Carama's forthcoming EP entitled The Dream Walker. On the annual day of service and remembrance commemorating the life and legacy of Dr. King, Carama drops a video protesting those people of color whose behavior and blistering displays of ignorance have arguably done a great disservice to the causes of equality and social justice for which King fought and died. Carama also references the recent party flyer controversy, which found King's family coming out against a group of Michigan event promoters who altered images of the celebrated leader and used them to anchor a tasteless series of advertisements for events scheduled to coincide with the MLK holiday. The Kentucky MC drops a few sharp thoughts on the matter alongside the compelling visual, which juxtaposes the iconography of the Civil Rights Movement with a number of degrading and disappointing images from the digital era:

"Whether its the sacrifice that Martin Luther King and many others made for the advancement and progress of this generation or the history Barack Obama made in becoming the first black president, it seems many of us are attempting to denigrate that progress instead of continuing to advance it. Seeing flyer's with MLK's image on it throwing up gang signs with gold chains around his neck this past weekend was it for me.. That frustration led to this track and visual."
