David Banner & Big K.R.I.T. Link On The New Loosie "My Uzi"

David Banner has fired a brand new shot across hip-hop's bow with his brand new single "My Uzi." Over whirling synthesizers that bring to mind police sirens fractured by city skyscrapers and narrow streets, the track bangs forth and back with deep sub-bass and tin-foil snares, capturing the aggression of its weaponized subject matter. Adding to the track's firepower is Big K.R.I.T., who delivers a powerful verse of his own. The track was self-produced by Banner, according to HNHH, who premiered it earlier this week, but in truth it's the lyrics that matter most in this instance. Rather than being a chest-beating boast, Banner's lines address a number of political problems in today's world, with nods to the recent upheaval in Baltimore and the tragic, criminal death of Michael Brown. "Lord, ain't nothing been promised lately / Police out here acting crazy / Shooting up black folks left and right / People out here die every night," the MC stresses.

Those less-than-perfect in their knowledge of David Banner's skills should relive his vibrant live rendition of "Evil Kenievel" in collaboration with Sa-Roc (an Okayplayer exclusive premiere). You can already purchase "My Uzi" on iTunes today, but take the opportunity to try before you buy and listen to the track below.
