On November 12th, Dave Chappelle will return to TV in a massive way. Today, it was announced that the irreverent comedian will host that evening’s episode of Saturday Night Live. But that’s far from the end of the story here. As many of you know (and if you don’t, get wise in a hurry) A Tribe Called Quest’s final album, We got it from Here… Thank You 4 Your service, is due to arrive the day before and as an encore, the foundational Native Tongues reps will join Chappelle as the musical guests for the evening.
Obviously, this will be a bittersweet moment for all involved as the entire album is a dedication to the memory of the late Phife Dawg (who is confirmed to be accounted for on the new album,) but there may be no better or more profound salute to his legacy as the comedic heart of the Tribe, than to pair the crew’s final outing with the resurgent legend. Seeing as how no track list has been revealed for the album, it’s hard to guess what they’ll perform. But let’s hope it’s that Andre 3000 collaboration that they’ve been sitting on.
Only one way to know though: tune into NBC at 11:30 p.m. on November 12th for the full reveal. Head over to The Shop for all you Tribe vinyl needs.
