Lucki Eck$ and Danny Brown collide on the Red Bull Sound Select presented "Weightin' On." Brown's dizzying assault plays perfectly against Eck$' cooled-out drawl, providing a perfect team up of Midwestern microphone supremacy recorded in Brown's hometown of Detroit (if you never know about Detroit, Danny-bwoy also participated in a Made in Detroit mini-doc underwritten by Budweiser, which connects the dot's between his own EDM-inflected rap, ghettotech and the original Seventh City techno scene; Detroit luminaries Kevin Saunderson and Carl Craig are also interviewed. Okay, yes, it is a beer commercial but in Danny's case I think we can all agree that drinking beer would probably be a gateway to eating food and leaving more more mind-altering and/or toxic substances alone, so win/win in this case).
"Weightin' On" comes as a quick follow-up to the young Chicagoan's just released Body High project (which is finding audience's with much acclaim) as well as Brown's own (cough) Smokin' & Drinkin' remix EP, featuring reworks from BOYS NOIZE, Jack Beats, DJ Sliink and TroyBoi. Listen as the two contemporary bruisers of Midwestern rhymesaying link up and stream "Weightin' On" below and keep scrolling downward for Made In Detroit mini-doc.
