A handful of conservatives have since reacted to Kaepernick’s tweets.

Following the death of Iranian general Qassem Soleimani, Colin Kaepernick took to Twitter to call out the drone strike that led to Soleimani’s death.

“There is nothing new about American terrorist attacks against Black and Brown people for the expansion of American imperialism,” Kaepernick tweeted Saturday afternoon.

He then offered a follow-up tweet: “America has always sanctioned and besieged Black and Brown bodies both at home and abroad. America militarism is the weapon wielded by American imperialism, to enforce its policing and plundering of the non white world.”

The strike that led to Soleimani’s death was ordered by Donald Trump. Trump has justified the decision on Twitter, calling Soleimani a “terrorist leader.”

“Iran has been nothing but problems for many years. Let this serve as a WARNING that if Iran strikes any Americans, or American assets, we have…..targeted 52 Iranian sites (representing the 52 American hostages taken by Iran many years ago), some at a very high level & important to Iran & the Iranian culture, and those targets, and Iran itself, WILL BE HIT VERY FAST AND VERY HARD. The USA wants no more threats!” Trump tweeted on Saturday evening.

A number of conservative Twitter users have since responded to Kaepernick’s tweets, including Candace Owens, Tomi Lahren and Megyn Kelly.

Soleimani’s funeral processions took place over the weekend in cities in Iraq and Iran.
