Chet Faker Drops "Talk is Cheap [Ta-ku Remix]" + New Tour Dates

TaKuChetFaker

Aussie electro-crooner Chet Faker has a knack for playing well with others. The brilliantly-bearded and sultry songwriter has spread his vocal talent over Flume's best track, Say Lou Lou's beautiful b-side "Fool of Me," and (most successfully) "Mahal," the neck-snapping standout from Ta-Ku's 2011 Late NYC EP. The glue from that last collab seems to have held, and now Faker has shared a brilliant remix to "Talk is Cheap" crafted by none other than Ta-Ku.

While the original track is varnished with breathy saxophones and Faker's trademark electric piano, the remix is something a little meaner. Ta-Ku has twisted Faker's vocals into knots, shifting them into both very high and low octaves, and made his lyrics indeterminate to the point of nonexistence. The remix is the sort of dim and dreamy bedroom sound that both artists have championed over the past few years and will be a perfect fit for your extra special "turn down the lights" playlist...we know you've got one.

In addition to summer stops at the Montreux Jazz Festival and Lowlands, Faker has just announced a slew of North American headlining dates in support of Built on Glass, including a finale show at NYC's Webster Hall on October 16th. Ta-ku for his own part has been alluding to a new project, Songs To Make Up To, which will serve as the follow-up counterpoint to his latest moody and multicolored LP Songs to Break Up To. Faker's star has been ever on the rise ever since he unleashed his flip of "No Diggity" upon the world and Ta-Ku has been consistently wowing us, especially with his massive tribute to Detroit's own J Dilla, entitled "50 Days for Dilla". It's a beautiful thing when these two Oz men get together; we've got our heads nodding and our fingers crossed in hopes of future teamwork.
