The company Roli has released a new and revolutionary music production station called BLOCKS. Small in size and easy to use, BLOCKS aims to democratize music production. In a press release Roli describes BLOCKS as being "a modular music studio that opens up the world of music-making to everyone. Each individual Block offers unique capabilities that let people create music in simple but far-reaching ways. The Blocks connect together to create customizable kits that suit any budget, skill level, and musical style. With a click of magnetic connectors, music-makers can now build their instruments as they go." The Lightpad Block, the playable and expandable surface, starts at $179.95. You can cop a Live Block, which is made for performance, and/or a Loop Block, which is made for production, for $79.95 each. Snazzy cases start at $39. The inventor of BLOCKS and CEO of Roli, Roland Lamb said, “Many areas of life have been transformed by the digital. Music, though, remains a universal language that everyone understands, but only a few can speak. BLOCKS will change that, and enable people around the world to experience the joy of music-making for the first time.” Roli is known for their Seaboard RISE, a piano controller with a soft silicone surface that offers 5D touch. Watch a promo for the innovative BLOCKS below and scroll down to watch a clip of RZA using BLOCKS at the Apple Store in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
